After getting my undergraduate degree in International Economics from the American University of Paris, I worked for over a decade as a production assistant in the film industry in Vancouver BC. Looking to make a change, I travelled the world and began practicing yoga. Landing in Portland in the late 90’s, I founded a yoga studio with three other teachers. After a year of teaching I started helping with the books and found I had a knack for working with numbers. Eventually, I enrolled in the Post-Baccalaureate Accounting program at Portland State University and became a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Upon graduation from Portland State, I took a position at Perkins and Company, the largest local accounting firm in Portland. After four years at Perkins, I moved to a smaller firm, the Epstein Group, which was walking distance from my home. Once my son was born in 2013, I started my own tax practice. This adjustment has allowed me to work part-time and spend quality time with my family.
Services:
Tax preparation and planning – my main focus is small business taxes, particularly the restaurant industry, rental property owners, and those with investment holdings.
My philosophy:
Taxes affect (almost) everyone. One of my goals is to take our vast and complicated tax law and apply it to your specific situation, and explain it to you in a way that is understandable. I enjoy working for myself because it gives me the opportunity to work and communicate directly with the client and assist them with their tax needs.
Note:
If you have a simple tax return (W-2 wages, own a home, no dependents) you may be better served by using another tax preparer’s services or an off-the-shelf product. However, I am happy to consult with you if you have tax questions.
*Update: As of August 1, 2019, I am no longer accepting new clients.
Cost:
$150 hourly consulting rate
My tax services, excepting audit assistance, for the year are a fixed fee range. After our initial meeting, I will give you a price range estimate for your return. This fee will cover tax prep, planning, meetings, emails, and phone calls for the year. Each January, the fee estimate for the year will be revisited and sent out with the tax engagement letter. Audit assistance is billed at my hourly rate.

Tax Humor:
A tax preparer is someone who solves problems you didn’t know you had in a way you don’t understand.
